On this 12 anniversary of 9/11 it's a good time to reflect on what's important.
The USA came in at 17th on the world's happiest country list this past week. According to GDP per capita we are heads and tails above other industrialized countries. Many of the happiest countries come from Northern Europe where many of their basic needs are met by the state.
I'm not an advocate of this because what the government gives, it also has the ability to take away. But it reiterates one thing that I have emphasized in the past. That is that once your basic needs are met then the additional happiness that you receive from each additional dollar spent falls exponentially compared to the rise.
