I've had utility bills (water, sewer, electricity) that has ranged from $350 a month to $80 a month depending upon the house and time of year. My last place was brand new, super efficient, and even in the middle of summer the AC only costed me $1 a day with 4 people living there. I'll absolutely pay $1 a day for that! Other places have been closer to $2-$3 a day for AC. So how does this compare with smoking?
Well if you're spending at least $5 a day on smokes and spending $1-3 a day on AC, in my opinion you have nothing to complain about. Get the fag out of your mouth and get your priorities in order. If you're spending $150 a month to $1,800 a year on cigarettes then that's a lot of utilities that you're smoking. Water, electricity, and sewer are basic necessities in my book. Smoking is not!
So if you find yourself complaining about the cost of your lights, as you're lighting up. You need to be aware that you're spending anywhere from 40% to 100% of your utility money on something that slowly kills you. Maybe it's time for a lifestyle change...
