The solution is self-evident when you think about it. If you remember nothing, just remember this and never forget it. THERE ARE NO SCHOLARSHIPS, GRANTS, OR LOANS FOR RETIREMENT.
You really only have one shot at retirement, because when you get to a certain age, you may be employable, but it diminishes rapidly. While your child will be able to get scholarships, grants, loans, or get a part-time job for his/her education, there is no such thing for you. You are on your own.
While saving for your child's education is a noble endeavor, it comes in at the back of your financial planning. And depending upon your religious slant it comes before tithing, but in my opinion, not after.
