BHAG

I first heard of BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) when I was reading Jim Collin's book, GOOD TO GREAT (highly recommend).  If I remember correctly he heard it from somebody else, but it doesn't matter.  What matters is that we all have one.  Ted Turner's father purposely made his son insecure in order to make him strive for a never ending goal that could never be reached.  He did that knowing that even if he fell short, great things would be accomplished.  I would say he "succeeded".

We should all have one BHAG in our life.  I've set a hand full in my life and fallen short on each and every one of them.  What I accomplished though was impressive even in spite of failing, which is the whole point.  So with that said, I'm going to set another BHAG for everybody to see.  Making it public, I hope, will keep pressure on me to actually succeed this time.

So here is the BHAG.  I believe it is possible (and even if it's not, it doesn't matter) that I should be able to retire before I'm 40, even though I'm in my early thirties.  Hopefully you remember that I posted a while ago about how to retire while in your 30's?  Well there have been numerous examples of people being able to do this (even in their 20's), so let's put it to the test.  The future posts will revolve around the analysis that needs to be done in order to accomplish this, along with periodic posts to see the progress.  I recommend that you follow along in case I actually succeed.  If you don't, you're going to end up wasting 7 years if you just wait and see how it turns out.  Best of luck!

This website was created due to the atrociously misguided financial advice that I've heard over the decades.  Financial freedom is not intellectually strenuous, but it takes discipline.
