If you don't have a religious aversion you should seriously look at getting cremated instead of getting buried. It's cheaper, it's better for the environment, and you can do way more fun things with ashes instead of bodies. For instance I want mine scattered in the five major rivers that I've traveled to in my life(Amazon, Nile, Ganges, Yarra River, Thames) by my relatives. That way they can also take one last trip in my name.
A basic burial is going to probably cost you at least $5,000, whereas you could probably get cremated and a few coffee cans for the road for under $1,000 if you plan it right. You're dead who cares?! You wouldn't go and bury a bunch of your money in the backyard would you, knowing that you could never use it again?? Of course not, so let your family have some fun with it!
