Farmer's market - $9
Yesterday was the first day of my $46 challenge of eating like somebody who made minimum wage.  I managed to overshoot my daily budget by $2.68.  May not sound like much, but I'm going to have to play some serious catch up today!

Part of the problem, was I blew my load on expensive leftovers.  The main culprit being a pasta dish with veggies in it ($5.25).  Here's the challenge with vegetables; they are great for you, but when it comes to cost per calorie, they are very lacking.  I've come to the conclusion that if the world was forced to eat a proper diet of fruits and vegetables.  Billions of people would starve to death.  My roommate and I had this conversation yesterday.  If you did away with industrialized grains like wheat, corn, oats, and rice then billions of humans couldn't meet their basic caloric intake.  Every meal I had yesterday had some of them in it.  I think you could throw potatoes into this category as well.

So here's the break down from yesterday:

2 bowls of cereal - $1.50
Bowl of pasta, chicken, and veggies - $5.25
Bowl of guac and chips - $2.50

The calories for all of these added up to 1,940 and I weighed in at a (muscular and sexy) 155 pounds.  My budget was for $6.57 and I spend $9.25.  I went hungry yesterday, but it wasn't from a lack of food.  It came from being stranded at a party and not being able to feed myself, since part of the requirement is that I not take free food from anybody.  Ribs never smelled so good!

BOGO (buy one get one) will be my food lover from now.

This website was created due to the atrociously misguided financial advice that I've heard over the decades.  Financial freedom is not intellectually strenuous, but it takes discipline.
