Please cry for me Argentina!

When written in Chinese the word "crisis" is composed of two characters.  One represents danger, and the other represents opportunity.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. Argentina is in the process of just such a crisis and their heartache is your gain. Their currency has dropped by 13% just over the past two days. And it now only costs 40% of what it did for an American to travel there vs a decade ago.  And half of that if you go back a few more years!

This whole crisis is fueled by their inept politicians who refuse to face the music. Now this is just the official exchange rate. On top of this, since governments like this usually have currency restrictions, you could seek out the black market and get an even better rate. As in an additional 15% savings!

Note: don't feel bad about either of these advantages. By going there you're helping boost their currency and economy. And the black market develops because of hurtful and onerous economics forces that the government refuses to acknowledge.  Tango anyone??

ARE YOU FINANCIALLY SMARTER THAN A PORN STAR?

Saving for retirement has never been so sexy!  Here are a bunch of quotes as to how porn stars are investing for their retirement...

Picture
Asa Akira: I save over half of my money—and I've been doing so since I got into porn. I wrote a book, it comes out in May. ... I haven't been investing. I'm so scared. I don't know anything about it, so right now [that money] is sitting in my savings account.
Picture
Joanna Angel: I own my own company. It's going (to) live on whether I'm performing or not. I own all the images, and I have still images of me in my prime years that I can sell forever and ever. ... Whatever I invest my money in, I want it to carry my brand. I have no interest in investing in property or the stock market.
Picture
Skin Diamond (I'm thinking that's a stage name): I just try to save 25 percent of everything that I make. That way there's a nice cushion of funds there. ... I've never really been great at the whole investing thing. I figure my website is an investment. Even after I quit porn, that can still make money.
Picture
Riley Steele: I have my real estate license, so [I'm] selling properties and owning and also renting them out. That's something I've been working on. I've also been thinking of opening my own hair salon one day.
Picture
Ron Jeremy: I maybe one of the more prepared people in this room for life after porn. I've been endorsing products for many, many years. I've had rolling papers, skateboards, cigars, hot sauce (which was very successful) and I have a rum that's doing very, very well. ... So I'm financially set for all of my life.

Day 7

Mac and cheese with broccoli - 600 cals $1.89

Bp and banana sandwiches - 885 cals $.85

Ravioli - 440 cals $.89

Black beans and rice - 440 cals $.67

I had to come in below my 37 cent per diem amount of $6.58 and I best it by $2.28. Mission accomplished!

2,365 calories. I discovered beans and rice way too late in the game. It doesn't leave you as sluggish as the other dishes and it's incredibly cheap. I can see why it's eatin by the poor all over the world. Also according to the Internet (it never lies) it contains all of the essential amino acids that make up a full protein. Who knows, but it's also tasty!

Throw in some veggies and chicken livers and you've got a complete meal!
